| GDC Banihal organizes Clean India Programme | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 16: NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Banihal organized Clean India Programme under the overall supervision of Principal Dr. Manohar Lal and mentorship of NSS Programme Officer Prof. Ajay Kumar (HoD Sociology) and Prof. Ram Parkash (HoD Mathematics).The Principal kick-started the programme from college campus and emphasized upon the importance of sanitation and cleanliness in society. Around 25 NSS Volunteers of the College participated in the sanitation drive wherein they visited the village Nagam, at a distance of 2kms from college and collected waste and rubbish in dustbins. They also cleansed water bodies in the form of springs in Nagam and Lonepura villages by removing trash, litter, plastic waste etc which was found in and around them. The NSS Volunteers interacted with local community regarding the cleanliness of water bodies and also encouraged people to keep them clean to stay away from diseases like malaria, dengue, dysentery and so on. All the collected waste was finally disposed off in an appropriate manner. |
