12/16/2021 10:45:32 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 16: Two local militants of "The Resistance Front"(TRF) of the Laskhar-e-Toiba were killed in an overnight encounter in South Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said here on Thursday. The gunfight erupted at Redwani Bala late on Wednesday when joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
"The house where the terrorists were trapped was cordoned in the said village and an opportunity for surrender was given to the trapped terrorists.
However the terrorists refused and opened indiscriminate fire upon the security forces.
Intermittent exchange of fire kept taking place and at around 2:20 am, the two trapped terrorists were neutralised," a police statement said.
The killed militants have been identified as Aamir Bashir Dar, a resident of Kujjar Yaripora and Aadil Yousuf Shan of Sursano, Hatipora Kulgam.
"Both were "C" category terrorists and were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit TRF/LET," it said.
Police has been maintaining that the TRF is a shadow group of the LeT. Aamir was active from April 2021 and Aadil from October 2021, the statement said adding incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
On Wednesday, a Hizbul-Mujahideen militant commander was killed in a gunfight in neighboring Pulwama district. This year over 150 militants have been killed in various operations by the security forces.
