Drugs & Food Control Organization, DH Kishtwar organise awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojna (PMBJP)

KISHTWAR, Dec 16: Drugs and Food Control Organization, Jammu and Kashmir in coordination with District Hospital Kishtwar today organised an awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana in the Hospital premises.
Assistant Drugs Controller Udhampur, Renuka Raina was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar, Dr R S Manhas; Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, Dr Parveez Iqbal Wani; Deputy CMO Kishtwar, Dr Balbir Singh; District Immunisation Officer Dr Chander, Block Medical Officers, Medical consultants, Drug Controller Officers Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur and Jammu, Paramedical Staff, representatives of Jan Aushadi Kendras attended the programme.
Briefing the media, Assistant Drug Controller officer informed that the prime objective of the awareness program was to provide access to people to affordable medicines so that they may not lose their lives for want of medicines.
She emphasized that this flagship program should reach every common man. She reiterated that the Jan Aushadhi medicines are of equal quality, purity & strength as are the branded medicines but are available at a much lower rates to the general public.
On the occasion, Doctors & Drug Controller Officers took a pledge that the scheme objective should percolate to masses to lessen their burden /expenditure on medicines.
Under the scheme, dedicated outlets known as Jan Aushadhi Kendras are opened to provide generic medicines at affordable rates with quality & efficacy at par with branded medicine.
It was impressed upon the Doctors to prescribe medicine available at Jan Aushadhi Kendra as it will benefit more marginalized and underprivileged families.
The CMO Kishtwar Dr R S Manhas and Superintendent District Kishtwar Parvez Iqbal also spoke on the occasion and emphasised on the availability of medicine in Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras at affordable rates for the general public. They informed that Jan Aushadhi pharmacy is functional at District Hospital Kishtwar and this scheme has benefited many people.
The officers also visited Jan Aushadhi kendra being run in District Hospital Kishtwar to ensure all categories of drugs are easily available to the public in general.
