GDC Sunderbani organizes awareness programme on rejuvenation of rivers

RAJOURI, Dec 20: Government Degree College (GDC) Sunderbani organized a week-long awareness programme including door-to-door campaign with special focus on rejuvenation of rivers and water bodies with involvement of local community along with NSS & NCC volunteers. The programme was undertaken as a part of the Clean India Campaign in commemoration with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The students of college undertook an extensive one-week awareness programme which is considered to be a cost-effective measure to combat the rising pollution in the rivers and water bodies.
NSS & NCC volunteers of the college raised public awareness about water conservation as it is need of hour to increase peoples' knowledge of water resources, water use, and the need to conserve water.
As a part of this awareness programme around 40 NSS & NCC Volunteers of the College participated in the sanitation drive wherein they visited nearby villages and have interaction with masses regarding conservation of water bodies, they also visited water bodies at a distance of 3.4 kms from college namely Maijra-di-Bawli in Naddani village, another Bawli in Village Kund and collected waste and rubbish in and around the water bodies and also visited pond in shivkashi at Dova Village.
Students made people aware with posters and rally. In the rally slogan regarding conservation of water bodeis were raised by students.
The program was organized by Prof. Sham Lal, NSS Program Office and Mr. Ravi Kumar, CTO NCC Unit. The program was made successful with the efforts of Prof. Sheraz kousser Co-Convenor NSS, Prof. Beant Singh, Dr Shezad Ahmed and Prof Sandeep Kumar Member NSS, Prof. Rabinder Kumar and Prof. Kuldeep Kumar. Dr. Vandana Gupta Principal of GDC Sunderbani appreciated the NSS and NCC Unit of the college for volunteering in community services.
