| Tall claims of good governance exposed: Mehbooba Mufti | | |

Srinagar, Dec 20: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday alleged that deployed Army engineers in the wake of the strike by power employees had exposed the “tall claims of good governance”.
Mehbooba Mufti also tweeted that the Central government had made clear the “criminal agenda” behind the scrapping of the special status given to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 so that they can “loot” the natural resources of the region.
“GOI has made its criminal agenda ... clear. Motive behind state sponsored loot of our natural resources - illegal auction of sand mining to outsiders, conversion of agricultural land to privatising power transmission is to plunge J&K into choas,” Mehbooba said.
She said bringing the Army into Kashmir affairs has exposed the claims of good governance.
“Bringing the Army into such matters has further exposed their fake good governance narrative and ensure that people here live in perpetual fear of the jackboot. Such harebrained tactics and policies will only deepen the sense of alienation and suffocation that people of J&K feel,” she wrote.
The government has sought the help of the Army in view of a strike by nearly 20,000 employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development protesting against the privatization of the power sector.
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hit out at Union Minister R K Singh for saying that the power scenario was having a minor impact in Jammu.
“Mantriji, J&K stretches beyond Jammu city and the plains of Jammu. Can you please find out what is happening in the far flung areas of Jammu? J&K also includes Kashmir and things are not nearly as rosy as your answer would suggest,” Omar Abdullah tweeted.
Singh said the strike had only a minor impact at a few places. “By and Large, things are normal in Jammu... Only 15 to 20 percent of feeders are affected.” |
