| GDC Vijaypur celebrates National Mathematics Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
VIJAYPUR, Dec 23: Every year December 22 is observed as National Mathematics Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanunjan. In this context, GDC Vijaypur organized a symposium with the aim to raise awareness about Mathematics amongst the students, to increase a positive attitude towards learning Maths and understand the importance of Maths in day to day life and also remember the contributions of the great Mathematician.
The programme started with welcome speech of Dr. Shittal Sharma, HOD Mathematics in which she threw light on the life and contributions of Srinivasa Ramanunjan especially his contributions in the field of Mathematics. After that a floral tribute was paid to him by the Principal of the College along with Staff and students followed by conducting a Symposium in which students from various Institutions participated enthusiastically. Then a documentary was shown to the students on the biography of “The man who knew infinity”- Sir Srinivasa Ramanunjan.
The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. On the occasion, she apprised that Mathematics has very important role in our day to day life. It makes our life orderly and prevents chaos. She further said that Mathematics is the cradle of all creations without which the world cannot move an inch. She motivated students by saying that the present age is one of skill development and innovations. The more mathematical we are in our approach, the more successful we will be. The whole event was coordinated by Dr Shittal Sharma, HOD Mathematics. |
