Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 23: As selective killings of Jammu and Kashmir Police Personnel have become a routine affair in Kashmir Valley during the last nearly one year, the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken serious note of the casual approach being adopted in dealing with terrorism.
“Instead of strengthening security grid on the ground, the incumbent administration in the UT is more worried about publicity and projection”, a source said, adding, “suggestions made by the Union Government after December 13 terror attack on the police bus are yet to be implemented on the ground”.
Sources said that intelligence agencies have already sounded the MHA that the security situation in J&K was worsening with every passing day due to incept publicity-hungry administration which is far away from the ground reality.
Sources said that after a dreaded terror attack on a police bus in the heart of the Srinagar city on December 13, the Union Government has suggested some measures to be implemented on the ground.
“MHA’s advisory is yet to be implemented because those at the helm of the affairs are taking terrorism very casually”, a source said.
As reported earlier, continuing the selective killings, terrorists on Wednesday evening shot dead one Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Terrorists also killed a civilian in Srinagar-the summer capital of the Union Territory. According to reports, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police, who was critically injured after terrorists fired upon him in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag on Wednesday evening, has succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.
Reports said that terrorists fired at unarmed ASI Mohammad Ashraf while he was returning to his home. The deceased ASI was posted at the Bijbehara police station. He was seriously injured in the terror attack.
Wednesday evening attack on an ASI was the third attack on Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel in the month of December.
Three policemen including an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) were killed and 12 others injured, after terrorists attacked a police bus at Zewan area of Srinagar on December 13.
Earlier on December 10, terrorists attacked a police party at the Gulshan Chowk area in North Kashmir Bandipora district in which two cops were killed. Identities of killed cops were established as selection grade constable Mohammad Sultan and constable Fayaz Ahmed. Both the cops were deployed at the Gulshan Chowk in Bandipora.
