Dr Suresh conferred with Dadhi Mahanta Research Award at Assam

RAJOURI, Jan 18: Son of the soil from border Rajouri district Dr. Suresh Kumar a renowned social activist and internationally acclaimed scholar in the field of Buddhist Studies has been conferred with *Dadhi Mahanta Memorial Social Science Research National Award for the year 2021* for his outstanding contribution to promote the cause of Indian history, culture and heritage through his innovative ideas and original research works in an impressive august gathering graced by a galaxy of luminaries at Mohan Chandra Mahanta Adhyayan Gobesona Kendra, a social science research center in Cinnamara College, Jorhat, Asaam. It is pertinent to mention here that late Dadhi Mahanta was not only a prominent freedom fighter but also a pioneer for precipitating the growth of communism in Assam. He was the first General Secretary Students Union of JB college, Jorhat.
Pertinent to mention here that Dr. Suresh Kumar who is presently working as Assistant Professor in Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Nalanda and hails from a remote village of this border district Rajouri is the founder General Secretary of Sangarsh Movement.
Earlier he served as Assistant Director (Research) in Indian Council of Historical Research- An autonomous organisation under Ministry of Education, Government of India. He had also been nominated as Member of State Advisory Board for the Development of Pahari Speaking People by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir (2014-17). In his academic endeavour, he has attended and presented papers in more than 63 national and international seminars/conferences in India and abroad so far and has the credit of publishing one book entitled Buddhist Ethics: Relevance and Impact on Contemporary Society and 23 Research papers in the journals of international repute. He has done his PhD and Masters Degree in Buddhist Studies from University of Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir, India. Dr. Suresh is also associated with many academic and social organisations. He is well-known for his writings and speeches on the contemporary issues. He has good experience in the field of research, administration, teaching and journalism.
This award has been conferred to him into the account of his intention to serve the cause od micro level historical research, his analytical writings on Buddhist Studies which have inter alia contribution to the proliferation of strong root of Indian historiography and his performance in the field of social activism.
