Pahari Tribe ST Forum extends signature campaign to Poonch

POONCH, Jan 22: Pahari Tribe ST Forum, a socio-cultural organization working for the welfare of Pahari Tribe, extended its signature campaign to Poonch district demanding ST status for down trodden and marginalized Pahari clan. Earlier campaign at several blocks of district Rajouri is percolating to the Panchayat level with full intensity. PT ST Forum has cleared that this campaign in first phase shall extend to all 30 blocks of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch where near about 74? of Pahari tribe people resides and in second phase to rest of the blocks.
Following CAB, prominent local natives across the district Poonch came out at Dak Bungalow, Poonch to show their prime concern that has been has been delayed since 1989. Delegates stated that certain covert masked unknown disguised intentions have shattered their well deserving concern. It is very unfortunate that helpless poor people of Pahari tribe are struggling for their genuine well deserved constitutional right, they added.
Several prominent Pahari tribe personalities and several members of Pahari tribe at Poonch took part in the convention followed by signature campaign in one voice reiterated demand of due ST status to the Pahari ethnicity.
Interacting during the proceedings most of members of the ethnicity in one voice raised concerns of their down trodden conditions and appealed GOI to furnish their due long pending demand of ST status as early as possible.
Delegates claimed that from time to time different committees and expert panels declared Pahari tribe as the downtrodden ethnicity and recently in the month of April 2020, LG regime of J&K with the amendment in Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004 defined Pahari Speaking People as a clan or tribe. Those prominent executives of PT ST Forum who remained observer during whole process includes Adv. Ashan Mirza, Vikrant Sharma, Gurdev Thakur, Bharat Vaid, Shakti Sharma and Muneer Mirza.
