GDC Kalakote organizes webinar under Cyber Jagrookta Divas

KALAKOTE, Jan 28: Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, GDC Kalakote in collaboration with NSS unit is observing a series of events to celebrate Cyber Jagrookta Divas to raise awareness about cybercrimes in India. In this series college organized a webinar today on “Concept of Use of Cyber Hygiene in daily life”.
The program commenced with the formal address by Vrinda Sharma where she highlighted that people don’t take cyber security seriously and end up being a cybercrime victim.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Romesh Kr. Gupta said that Cyber Hygiene is as important as personal hygiene. It is to train ourselves to resist Cyber threats and online security issues by adopting certain important steps like installation of antivirus and malware software, by setting strong passwords, to use multiple factor authentication, by regularly backing up of important files offline etc. Principal Dr Romesh Kr. Gupta further added that Cybercrimes are evolving and the cyber criminals often targets organization and people by harvesting their personal data and use it to commit crimes like identity theft or sell it on dark web which is a major area of concern.
In the competition Pankaj Singh of Semester 5th earned the first place. Kavita Sharma of semester 3rd bagged the second place and the third position was shared by Manvi Sharma of Semester 3rd and Komal of semester 1st.
Pooja Rana and Dr Tariq Rashid Wani were the judges of the event and at last the program ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Mohd. Shakoor.
