Sikh organizations remember Baba Deep Singh on his birth anniversary

JAMMU, Jan 28: Various Sikh Organizations of Jammu & Kashmir under the banner of Sikh United Front have congratulated Sikh community on the birth anniversary of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh.
The birth anniversary of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety at all Sikh religious places in general and at Gurudwara Shaheed Bunga in particular.
In a meeting of various Sikh Organizations held under the chairmanship of Sudarshan Singh Wazir chairman of the Sikh United Front J&K, the speakers threw light on the life of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, who was born on 26th January 1682 at village Pahuwind in Taran Taran Amritsar.
Baba ji lived there in childhood and visited Anandpur sahib to met Guru Gobind Singh Ji Baba Deep Singh got baptized (Amritpan) by taking pious nectar from Guru Gobind Singh at the age of 18 years and after that never returned back home and lived at Anandpur Sahib, they added.
He learned religious education and all martial arts there. In 1702 Guru Gobind Singh ordered Baba Deep Singh to attend his native home at Pahuwind Taran Taran.
Baba Deep Singh was the first head of Misil Shaheedan and first head of Damdami Taksal, they further informed.
He along with his warrior soldiers helped Baba Banda Singh Bhadur in battlefield of Chaparchirri and helped in Sirhind Fateh, they added.
Those who participated the meeting included Mohinder Singh Chief Organizer Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and Ex-member DGPC Jammu, Darbinder Singh President Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Rajinder Singh General Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Raja Singh Sarpanch member DGPC Jammu and several others.
