JKNPP protests against persecution of Panther leaders
1/29/2022 10:43:09 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 29: Alleging conferment of multifarious facilities by the present regime to ex-MLAs/ex-Ministers including petty workers of BJP and persecution of opposition leaders on the other hand, a strong contingent of Panther activists led by Rajesh Padgotra Sr. leader, Gagan Pratap Singh and Parshotam Singh Parihar staged a thunderous protest demonstration in Jammu today. The infuriated protesters raised slogans against BJP govt and UT administration for running two set of laws in J&K. They accused the govt of playing dirty politics of persecution against Panther leaders and activists in order to satiate its political vendetta and quell the voice of the people.
Rajesh Padgotra said that J&K provided the most glaring example of mis-rule. He expressed his dismay over the weird govt order in which the PSOs of Yashpaul Kundal Ex- JKNPP Minister and General Secy of the party were withdrawn for unknown reasons. "His house guards were also withdrawn a day ago and he has been forced to face the security threat. All this have been done on the behest of BJP which is hell bent to satiate its political vendetta by persecuting Panther leaders in view of the growing popularity of JKNPP among the masses", Padgotra said. He further expressed his anguish over the open violation of SOPs and guidelines in the matter of allotment of government accommodation and security cover so as to confer undue and illegitimate benefits upon the political persons owing allegiance to a particular party. "It was shocking to note that BJP leaders who were not holding any position in government and fell in common man's category were occupying Estates mansions with all other facilities. And while the opposition leaders including ex-Ministers and heads of recognized political parties were hounded out of Estates quarters' through police force, the said BJP workers were allowed to retain the same thereby providing the most glaring example of present govt's dictatorial and autocratic policies", Padgotra maintained.
Gagan Pratap Singh said not only the Estates Bungalows but the security vehicles and PSOs were also being allotted purely on political considerations, said Singh. He pointed out that all the ex-MLAs and ex-Ministers of BJP were provided security vehicles and a huge paraphernalia of security personnel while denying bare minimum security to opposition leaders. He said that the heads of recognized political parties has also been divested of their due security by withdrawing their escorts, vehicles as well as security PSOs despite facing militants' threats. The security agencies had withdrawn the security cover of opposition leaders and allotted the same to even the small time lower rung workers of BJP. Even the Panches/ Sarpanches of BJP were provided PSOs who were being used for domestic services, Gagan divulged. He said that Mr. Yashpaul Kundal was residing at Swankha Morh near to the National Highway and close to the IB where several terror attacks had been executed by the militant outfits. He said many a times suspicious movements have also been neutralized by the security forces in the nearby area. "If any harm is done to Panther leader, the BJP govt and UT administration shall be squarely responsible", cautioned Gagan.
Seeking a high level probe into the two set of laws running in J&K, Mr. Parshotam Singh called for punitive action against the officers who were acting more as BJP servants than public servants. He said that non adherence to any set of norms and differential treatment of political parties by abusing of public exchequer and conferring benefits upon favourites was not only a crime but a financial scam which needed due attention of the Lt. Governor and Chief Secretary of the UT. He asked the authorities to restore the security cover of Mr. Kundal or else the NPP shall be forced to intensify its stir. "We will protest outside Raj Bhawan if concrete action was not taken in this regard", asserted Parihar.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Khajoor Singh, Vibhishan Singh, Ravender Jamwal besides others.
