Rajouri, Jan 29 : A unique issue has surfaced in District Rajouri where people are demanding removal of Substandard Black Topped Road. Along the Rajouri-Kalakote road, a link road from Potha to Chakli was blacktopped by PWD just 8 months back, but now even walking by foot on that link road is not possible.
The locals stated that prior to Blacktopping, walking on the road smoothly was possible and even vehicles could slowly ply. But now the public is suffering as even walking on the road is not possible.
They stated that this link road is the only connectivity for more that a dozen villages.
But the dilapidated road has posed a serious threat for the safety of the villagers as Government’s tall claims of Road Infrastructure fall flat in District Rajouri
The locals further said that on one hand, the Govt claims tall on the road quality and infrastructure but on the other hand the ground reality is different.
They alleged that the officials of PWD in connivance with Contractors for monetary benefits, compromise with the road quality.
They requested the LG administration to look into the matter and start investigating into the wrongdoings into the construction of Potha-Chakli link road.
When contacted, the concerned Junior Engineer said that they have contacted the concerned Contractor but they refused to repair the road at this time as the temperature is not fit for the repair work. |
