RAJOURI, Jan 29: Department of Environmental Sciences of Shaheed Ghanisham Govt Degree College (GDC) Doongi organized a poster making competition on "Recycling the Waste". The activity was conducted by Palakpreet Kour, Department of Environmental Sciences. The whole activity was conducted on the importance of recycling the waste. Recycling reduces the pollution of Air, water and land resulting from the waste disposal and is important in today's world if we want to leave this planet for our future generations. It is good for the environment since we are making new products from the old products which are of no use to us. Recycling begins at home. If you are not throwing away any of your old products and instead utilizing it for something new, then you are actually recycling. A huge number of students participated in the competition. Shilpa Sharma from B.A Sem Ist secured Ist position. Second position was held by Honey Bala and third position went to Rukhsana Kosser and Neha Sharma respectively. The whole activity was organized under the supervision of the principal of the college, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad. He also encouraged the students to participate in these kinds of activities and said that recycling reduces the size of landfills, conserves natural resources, creates more employment opportunities and reduces the Green house emissions Dr. Ashyana Koser, Dept of Urdu, Iqbal Rasool, Dept of Education, Sapna Sharma Dept of Hindi, were the judges of the competition. |
