GDC Vijaypur organizes webinar on "Understanding Communication Skills"

VIJAYPUR, Jan 29: GDC Vijaypur organized a webinar on "Understanding Communication Skills" as communication is the ability to convey, share ideas, emotions and feelings effectively and include actively listening to conversations, giving and receiving critical feedback, public speaking etc.
The webinar commenced with the welcome address by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Coordinator), who said that this webinar is aimed at providing fundamental skills such as patient and active listening, verbal and non-verbal communication, compassion and presentation skills, trust and personal connections which empower a person to understand what it takes to be a master communicator and to improve oneself by practicing various communicative skills.
Dr. Chetna Gupta (Assistant Professor, Department of English, GDC Kathua) was the resource person, who exhorted that language is imperative to exchange feelings, ideas, emotions, sentiments and unfolded three crucial elements in effective speech making i.e. speaker, audience and subject. She stressed that the orator should adapt with the audience in order to make effective and interesting two way communication. She emphasized that in order to achieve day-to-day success communication is essential. Further, she stressed upon intrapersonal and interpersonal communication viability and its significance besides putting mindset to linear model and transactional models.
Students of the college actively participated in the question and answer session of the webinar.
Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan said that good communication skills in life will definitely make one confident and assertive and it will enhance student's overall personality. She also congratulated the coordinator and the organizing team for organizing the webinar. Formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English). The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences).
