NAHEP-IDP SKUAST-J starts training course for students

JAMMU, Feb 1: With an objective to strengthen institutional capacities for delivering competent skilled professionals, NAHEP-IDP SKUAST-Jammu today started one week vocational training course for 25 students of the university on 'Application of computer and IT tools in improving learning and research efficacy of students'. Dr. R.C. Agrawal, DDG (Education), ICAR, New Delhi and National Director NAHEP, IDP was the chief guest and Prof. J.P. Sharma, V.C. SKUAST-Jammu was the guest of honour on the occasion.
In his presidential address, Dr. R.C. Agrawal congratulated NAHEP-IDP team of the university to organize training programme for the students which aims at developing their technical skills. He said that ICT has a main role as decision support system to the farmers.
Prof. J.P. Sharma, V.C. SKUAST-Jammu in his remarks said that ICT can newscast the price of crop and authentic information at real time to the farmers so that they can utilize it and get advantage. The decision support system through ICT facilitates farmers for planning type of crops, practicing good agricultural practices for cultivating, harvesting, post harvesting and marketing their produce to get better results.
Earlier, Dr. B.C. Sharma, Principal Investigator, NAHEP-IDP SKUAST-Jammu welcomed all the dignitaries and participants of training course and presented the progress of the project. Dr. Manish Kumar Sharma, Nodal Officer of the project gave detailed overview of the training course. He informed that training course covers 20 lectures along with practical which will be delivered by 14 resource persons from IASRI, New Delhi, Jammu University, Cluster University, Uttrakhand University, Roorkee, SMVDU and internal faculties of SKUAST-Jammu who have their expertise in the fields of automation of tools.
Head of the Divisions, scientists and students attended the inaugural session virtually. Proceedings of the programme were carried out by Dr. Anil Bhat. Dr. Vikas Sharma, Associate coordinator, NAHEP-IDP presented the vote of thanks.
