| JMC launches special sanitation drive | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 1: JMC in its continuous efforts to ensure sanitation in Jammu City, has launched a special sanitation drive during which areas covered viz. Vivekanand Chowk via Prem Nagar upto Gujjar Nagar Bridge and covered most of the areas from sanitation point of view. During the drive, the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation accompanied by Sanitation Officer concerned along with other field sanitation staff. The residents were made aware about user charges and apprised that JMC has installed dustbins everywhere and residents of every area should put their waste into the same to avoid littering of waste on the roads during the drive. The Commissioner, JMC further stated that the aim of launching this special sanitation drive is to cover most areas of the City so that no area remains neglected from sanitation point of view. She directed the concerned Officers/field staff to put their extra efforts in making Jammu City an example for others in respect of sanitation scenario and added that the main mandate of JMC is to provide proper sanitation to the residents and our focus should be on the same.
The Commissioner, JMC further appealed to the residents/shopkeepers of the above said areas as well as general public to cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and use identified places for disposal of garbage. She also stressed to avoid use of polythene to the extent possible which is the major cause of blockage of drains and nallahs. She stressed for putting every possible efforts in achieving the goal of making Jammu City Clean & Green and aim of Swachh Bharat Mission and added that such types of special drives shall continue in future to cover every nook and corner of the city from sanitation point of view. |
