JDA interference in Samba District intolerable: Manjit Singh
2/3/2022 10:23:00 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 3: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, Manjit Singh has strongly condemned the interference of Jammu Development Authority in Samba district by harassing the people which is beyond their jurisdiction.
In a statement to the press, Manjit Singh expressed serious concern over the interference in Samba District and silence of BJP over the issue which has led to unnecessary harassment of the people.
Condemning the wayward attitude of the JDA, Manjit Singh said that the JDA has no authority in Samba District yet the officials come and harass people who construct their houses.
"This Authority has behaved like East India Company in Samba while the complaints against the authoritative attitude of the JDA are growing with every passing day in Jammu District alone. The JDA should limit itself to Jammu instead of coming to Samba and making unbearable situations for the people," he said.
He demanded intervention of LG Manoj Sinha for this irresponsible attitude which may trigger massive protests against the JDA in Samba.
"Issues after issues being created by the administration and Govt departments by creating hurdles for the people, which needs to be addressed as early as possible before it is too late," he added.
The authorities of JDA should be redefined by limiting them to Jammu District only.
"JDA came into being when Samba was part of Jammu District. However, after Samba was established as a separate District, the jurisdiction of JDA was not redefined and hence, it has created problems for the masses in general," he said.
He further said that if the Govt wants to create an authority, it should be in the name of Samba Development Authority instead of allowing JDA to intervene in Samba District which is highly questionable.
"When Govt has authorized PRIs, Revenue Officials and other field departments to issue NoCs/building permissions for commercial and residential construction, then there is no justification for JDA to ask people for building permission that too in Samba," he said.
He warned that this practice may attract strong reactions from the people and the Govt must review the situation before it is too late.
