Poonch, Feb 14: In a remarkable interfaith gesture, the organising committee of Gurudwara Mahant Sahib Ji, Poonch organised two day prayer (path) ceremony, followed by remembrance of Shri Yashpal Sharma who had been instrumental in bringing the different communities together and thereby preaching the philosophy of Sarv Dharam Sambhav.
At the remembrance function, orators from different walks of life highlighted the contribution of Sher-e-Poonch. They specifically highlighted his role in 1978 agitation, through which, mass recruitment was done.
Speakers even threw light upon his role to mitigate the grievances of terrorist affected population, border residents, displaced section of 1947 and up gradation and modernisation of Poonch Town, both as a Chairman Municipal Council, Poonch in 1980 and providing nearly 60 lakhs out of his CDF to Poonch Municipal Council in 2017 as MLC.
The prominent who spoke were Master Amresh Sharma, Adv Sanjay Raina, Adv Mohd Zaman, Taj Mir, Parvinder Singh (Councillor), Mohd Bashir and Naresh Chander (Councillor).
The program was ably organised by S. Anmol Singh, S. Balbir Singh and S. Narinder Singh. At last Adv Sunil Sharma, President Municipal Council (brother) and Dr Udeshpal Sharma (Son) also shared their personal experience and learning they acquired during all these years. They particularly expressed their gratitude to the organisers and the common populace and committed to keep serving the masses as shown by Late Shri Yashpal Sharma. |
