In blatant violation of rules, Range Officer gets DFO post
2/14/2022 11:54:38 PM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Feb 14: In blatant violation of services rules, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday posted a Range Officer as Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Anantnag Forest Division.
“Mohd Ramzan Mir, RO-1 presently posted as District Soil Conservation Officer Anantnag, is transferred and posted as DFO Anantnag Forest Division,” reads Order issued by Forest Department.
The order[16-JK(FST) of 2022, issued in this regard, has upset the senior officers in the Forest department who allege that the officer has used his political connections to get this posting.
“If DFO territorial post is cadre post then how can RO (Range Officer) be posted as DFO,” officers questioned. They apprehended that this development may adversely impact the working system of the Forest department if the government didn’t revoke this transfer order.
Services rules mandate the government and department to post IFS officers or (DCF) Deputy Conservator of Forests level officers as DFO; however the officer who has managed to get DFO post is simply a Range Officer.
“This will open floodgates. Tomorrow anyone can try, use money or political connections to get sensitive postings,” they said, however they wished anonymity.
The officers who spoke to Early Times said that the administration was reverting back to what was happening prior to abrogation of Article 370.
“We can expect these horrific developments during political governments. Jammu and Kashmir is a Union Territory at the moment and under the leadership of LG Manoj Sinha Ji we expect that this administration will act in a transparent manner and do justice with the officers,” they said, adding by posting ineligible officer as DFO the administration has done with Forest Department Officers.
