Chenab Valley: Admin fails to develop Doda into tourism destination
Water sports activities come to end as officials show no interest

Early Times Report
doda, Feb 16: The water sports launched by the administration at the banks of river Chenab in Doda have ended due to the administration not paying much attention towards promoting these activities.
According to the locals the administration has failed to turn the spots near Chenab banks into tourist spots. "Everytime we hear that tourism is being promoted in the Doda area, the irony is that whatever we had, we have lost that also. The water sports were started at Chenab banks but these activities ended abruptly as the administration didn't pay much attention," they said, adding that "Doda should have a separate tourism development authority rather than it remaining dependent on Bhaderwah Tourism Authority."
Doda is a beautiful place having many scenic spots but the failure of authorities to develop these spots has disappointed the natives. "If these are developed, many youth can look for setting up small kiosks so that they can earn their livelihood. In Himachal Pradesh even nallahs have been turned into tourist spots but despite having River Chenab flowing through Doda nothing has been done," they added.
They urged the district administration to pay some attention towards developing Doda into a tourist destination and revive the water sports activities.
