DC Jammu inaugurates Mahila Shakti Kendra; reviews performance of Women Helpline, One Stop centres

JAMMU, Feb 17: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Anshul Garg today inaugurated the Mahila Shakti Kendra here at New Plot established under the centrally sponsored Scheme - Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shashaktikaran Yojana (PMMSY).
The established Mahila Shakti Kendra will provide an interface for women to approach the government for availing their entitlements and for empowering them through awareness generation, training and capacity building by providing a foothold to women empowerment schemes.
Garg, while appreciating the efforts put up by the Social Welfare Department for establishment of the Mahila Shakti Kendra, assured full support from the district administration in optimal performance of the newly established centre.
He also distributed sewing machines, Pass Books under Ladli Beti Scheme, Nutrition kits to pregnant ladies under Poshan Abhiyan, Baby Care kits for parents of newborn girl child under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and sanitary kits to needy women and other beneficiaries present on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the Women Helpline and One Stop centre for women He reviewed their functioning and directed the different centres established for women empowerment in Jammu to work in close coordination and synergy with focus on overall women empowerment. He inquired about the total number of grievances received by the one stop centres and their final disposal. He directed the Women Welfare Officer to coordinate with different line departments dealing with women centric schemes for earliest grievance redressal.
Garg said that the Mahila Shakti Kendra will provide the required information pertaining to women related schemes to all citizens in the district. The Centre will act as a link between the different departments for implementing women centric schemes and programs of the government.
ADDC Jammu Ramesh Kumar, ADC Satish Kumar, CPO Yoginder Katoch, District Social Welfare Officer Jammu Ajay Salaan and CDPO Jammu Aakansha Kalsotra were present on the occasion.
