Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 22: Pahalgam in district Anantnag of South Kashmir is world famous for its pristine glory and well known for its picturesque beauty far and wide especially in bollywood film makers and tourists across the globe besides domestic and local visitors throng this place very fondly but unfortunately the visitors now have to go through bumpy rides and other inconveniences which have caused due to bad condition of roads leading to this place of high repute.
Pahalgam is also base camp of Shri Amarnath Ji yatra but it has been facing the brunt of official apathy and neglect.
The entrants have to go through such roads which are dilapidated in nature. The drains are choked and broken of the main roads presenting a shabby look which irritates the people, said a shopkeeper while talking to Early Times on mobile.
Besides there are stray dogs roaming on streets in large number. The dog menace is dangerous and people are very desperate because they can target any person putting him or her in great trouble.
The concerned authorities seem to be in deep slumber and avoiding to do anything concrete to get rid of stray dog menace and for the developmental works of the area depite spending crores of rupees on various projects, said another trader wishing not to be named.
We urge the authorities in general and Pahalgam Development Authority in particular to take the stock of dilapidated roads and failed drainage system of this graceful spot and take measures to do away with dog menace in Pahalgam area and let visitors’ flow strengthen more amid tourist season to save the business of local traders and return of new dawn of prosperity to the people of Kashmir as well, a senior citizen of the area Ghulam Rasool said.
