Babus playing spoilsport
2/23/2022 12:20:55 AM
Soon after, Manoj Kumar Sinha, took over as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 2020, the first step he took was to put the grievance redressal mechanism in place. Many grievance cells were put in place and the phone numbers were given wide publicity.
It was a sincere attempt on the part of LG Manoj Sinha, but along with the passage of time these mechanisms have withered out and it appears that people can reach no one to get their genuine grievances redressed. In fact no one wants to listen to them.
Recently, LG Sinha addressed another edition of pro-people “Awaam Ki Awaaz.”
He listened to the people and took feedback from them and even directed the concerned departments to do the needful, but the question is are the bureaucrats down the line implementing the directions of LG Manoj Sinha or they are just sleeping over his orders. As on ground things are moving at a tardy pace and it appears, still lot needs to be done to deliver the change that was promised to people after J&K’s transition into a Union Territory.
According to media reports instead of facilitating the sincere efforts of Lieutenant Governor’s “Jan Bhagidari” in the governance process, this coterie of Babus is misleading him about the implementation of his visionary agenda at the ground level.
Many promises which the Lieutenant Governor had made to the people through Awam Ki Awaz programme haven’t been fulfilled as yet. Leave aside the big promises, the small issues like water, electricity and issues of other basic necessities haven’t been addressed in many rural areas till date.
On papers the Power Department has been claiming that every village in J&K has been electrified but on the ground these hamlets haven’t seen the electric bulb glowing as the power infrastructure is yet to reach the villages like Bajalta in Udhampur district.
Instead of formulating a comprehensive policy to address the problems of people officials have been busy taking arbitrary decisions which have created confusion across the Union Territory. Jobless youth are on streets, businessmen are unhappy as the laws have been made stringent and facilities are yet to be enhanced. The people around LG Sinha are misleading him and the ground situation not being upto the mark has disappointed the people.
