Early times report

Udhampur, feb 27: Though started in the year 2018, the work on vital project of Kaldi-Basakhi Dabard Gordi road is still incomplete and this has multiplied the problems of the people of the area and those using the road as the same is still in a dilapidated condition owing to a liability of about Rs. 9 crore to the contractor concerned.
Reliable sources informed that a project of Rs. 92 crore was sent to the Centre of which only Rs. 40 crore were sanctioned after which the work was started in the year 2018 with a deadline of 2021.
One bridge and single to double lanning of the road with its blacktopping was to be done in the project but so far only earthwork has been done while work on drains and retention wall is underway.
“When it rains the road gets closed for two-three days and all the money spent on the project is seen nowhere in form of work. It requires a probe,” a local of the area said
When contacted BDC Chairperson Block gordi , Arti Sharma said a thorough probe is needed in the matter and guilty should be punished as public is suffering due to poor road.
She further claimed that the main contractor had sublet the work to small contractors who did all the sub-standard works leaving the road dilapidated.
“Many people have died on this road in accidents. Who is responsible for that,” she said.
She also said that many times some sick person while evacuating to hospital on this road dies en-route as the road is in very bad condition.
AEE, Arun Gupta informed that only Rs. 40 crore was approved for the project but due to forest clearance the project has been delayed.
“I hope things will go good and the road may be completed this year,” he maintained.
