Caught in confusion: No takers for 3 KM stretch on Reasi-Rajouri boundary

RAJOURI, Mar 12: The residents of peripheries in Rajouri and Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir maintained that there is an alleged official apathy with regard to the development of road connecting Reasi and Rajouri. According to the locals, a road stretch of around three kilometers remained untouched by successive governments, as well as administration.
"It has been a long pending demand of the villagers of peripheries in Rajouri and Reasi, wherein around three kilometers of road stretch has not been constructed, owing to confused jurisdiction," said locals, adding that the Reasi administration claims that the area belongs to Rajouri, whereas Rajouri administration says it is in the jurisdiction of Reasi.
They said that on one side, the road leads to Mangol Mandir, whereas the other one leads to Sudheen village ward No 9 and Makol.
"Earlier as well, a number of representations had been submitted with the concerned authorities, but nothing has been done," said locals, adding that even the delegation led by ex-sarpanch faced disappointment.
Concerned authorities from both the districts make hollow promises of taking up the project, but nothing has been done for the welfare of villagers, they said.
"When we approached Superintending Engineer PWD, he said that he will take up the matter, but then it was put in back burner," said locals, adding that they had also brought this matter to the notice of Executive Engineer PWD Reasi, who said that he will look into it, but nothing has been done.
When contacted the Superintending Engineer PWD, he said that he will instruct the concerned officer to take up the matter as soon as possible. However, locals in the area requested the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and direct the officials to lay down the road connectivity, so that people may not face more harassment and problems.
