DDC chairperson slams administration, project management over non fulfilment of demands

Jammu, Mar 12: After nearly over one month since DDC Chairperson Kishtwar lift its 21 days old Dharna in support of various demands including jobs to local unemployed youths in power projects today hit out at the administration as well as to the project management for their failure in fulfilling the demands agreed by them on 8-2-2021 in writing.
As per the details available with Early Times, DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur in a jam packed press conference accuses Administration and Project Management off backtracking the commitments made by them with her and other agitating members with regard to jobs for local unemployed youths and Proper Rehabilitation of the project Affected Families.
She said that despite agreed in writing the demands, nothing has been done so far added that in case the administration and project management continue to befool the, she along with PRIs beside political parties, social activists, Human Rights activist and prominent citizens will once again start her agitation and the onus will all be on the local administration as well as the project management.
The demands which were agreed also include proper rehabilitation of project affected families, comprehensive job policy to be framed for the unemployed youths in power projects beside also assurances were made with regard to identification of skill development training courses required by the project management.
“Even though they have agreed everything in written- but it seem that the said agreement look like a trash bin paper having no relevance on ground- this is simply a betrayal” said Pooja Thakur added that if anyone tried to raise their voices, they were threaten them with imposing Public Safety Act (PSA) on them.
She said that if this agitation started afresh, it will not stop till all the desire results could be achieved- no matter at what cost.
She said that as far as labour wages is concern, District administration has informed them that soon central labour commissioner will take over the charge of the department and assured that the discrepancies in wages will also be addressed, but nothing was done in this regard as well and the poor labour are continuously being under paid wages and called upon the administration to immediately address the matter, otherwise they will hit on roads. DDC Chairperson also threaten the government and the administration that she will knock the doors of the court to seek justice and warn the administration of dire consequences in case of failure to address the genuine and rightful demands of the poor labourers.
