Samba Police arrests eight people involved in illegal mining

JAMMU, Mar 15: Samba Police has launched vigorous drive against illegal mining/ transportation of minor minerals across the district Samba and registered eight FIRs, arrested eight persons and seized 10 vehicles including one excavator in different areas.
In the jurisdiction of PS Ramgarh, one Tractor-Trolley JK21E-3823 was seized in case FIR No. 21/2022 for illegal mining from Devak River bed in Kamore area. Two persons namely Vishal Singh R/o Barota Camp, Ramgarh (Driver) and Sunil Choudhary R/o Barota Camp, Ramgarh were arrested.
A police party of PS Bari-Brahmana while on patrolling duty seized one JCB and a tipper bearing while illegally extracting minor minerals from Meen Charkan Khad, Gurgi. A case FIR No. 55/2022 under relevant sections has been registered at PS Bari-Brahmana. Two persons Mushtaq Ahmed R/o Meen Sarkar (tipper driver) and Suram Chand R/o Urlani Badsoo, Jhajar Kotli (JCB operator) got arrested in the said case.
Acting on a information regarding illegal mining from Basantar river near Nud, a police team of P S Samba seized two tractor trolleys and arrested one person Mangal Dass R/o Baletar Sumb, Samba. A case FIR No. 57/2022 under relevant section was registered at PS Samba in this regard.
On receiving information of illegal excavating/ illegal transportation of minor minerals from Khara Khad, Purmandal, a case FIR No. 06/2022 stands registered at PS Purmandal and seized a tractor-trolley. Driver of the seized vehicle namely Mohammad Aslam R/o Khara, Tehsil Bari-Brahmana was also arrested.
A police team of PS Ghagwal while on patrolling duty, seized a tractor-trolley from Barala Khad, Ghagwal for illegal mining/ illegal transportation of construction material (Sand). A case FIR number 36/2022 stands registered at Police Station Ghagwal in the said incident.
After getting reports of illegal mining from Chander Khad, Utterbehni, a Police team of PP Utterbehni seized one tractor trolley for illegal mining/ illegal transportation of construction material. In this regard a case FIR No. 07/2022 stand registered at PS Purmandal.
A police team of PS Vijaypur on receiving information seized a tractor trolley for illegal mining/illegal transportation of minor minerals (sand) from Devak river bed near Simbalwaliyan, Vijaypur. A case FIR No. 37/2022 stands registered at PS Vijaypur and one person Kalu Ram R/o Budhwal, Vijaypur was arrested in the said incident.
In incident of illegal mining at Devak River bed in Kamore area a team of P S Ramgarh seized one dumper along with its driver namely Sonu Choudhary R/o Barota Camp, Ramgarh. A case FIR No. 22/2022 under relevant section stands registered at PS Ramgarh.
SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, on the issue of illegal mining informed that Samba Police has installed banners at noticeable places depicting rates along with transportation charges of minor minerals as notified by the concerned authority for information to the general public.
