One year of ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’: Genuine voice of common masses still unheard
3/19/2022 11:58:46 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 19: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is going to complete the 12th episode of his visionary ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ programme.
A year has been passed since this programme was launched on April 18, 2021, but the issues raised by the common masses remained unheard due to attitude of a coterie of Babus which is least concerned about the compounding woes of the masses.
To directly connect with the masses to solve their problems, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has started this pro-people “Awaam Ki Awaaz” programme similar to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ in April 2021 but it could not yield desirable results due to some Babus who are hell-bent to sabotage Union Government’s agenda for Jammu and Kashmir.
Instead of facilitating the sincere efforts of Lieutenant Governor’s “Jan Bhagidari” in the governance process, this coterie of Babus is misleading him about the implementation of his visionary agenda at the ground level.
It is widely believed that during the last one and half years, efforts which were taken by the Union Government to provide good governance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been reverted due to misdeeds of these Babus who have created a wedge between masses and the government.
Rampant corruption, lack of connectivity between masses and officers have enhanced the governance deficit in Jammu and Kashmir. Even the people of the Jammu region, who were overjoyed after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A, are feeling cheated and backstabbed by the present dispensation.
As reported earlier by the newspaper, in the first episode of ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ on April 18, 2021, the Lieutenant Governor had promised to create job opportunities at the village level to stop migration from villages to cities. But, the same promise is yet to be fulfilled.
Those at the helm of the affairs appear to be adopting a callous approach towards solving vital issues like employment and providing basic amenities to the people.
This assurance was given on April 18, 2021, but till date, no comprehensive policy has been formulated in this regard.
