KATRA, Mar 27: Speaking in the day long conclave on “Hospitality & Tourism -2022 & beyond” organized by Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI) in association with Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra (HRAK) and Federation of Hotels, Restaurants ,Industry & Commerce of Jammu Region (FHRICJR), Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce, Thakur Ranjan Parkash said that the administration has set a target of 50,000 crore investment in J&K till 2023-24 but the target would be achieved in 2021-22 itself.
Thakur said that J&K will get maximum investment in different sectors including services, health, leisure, educational and other activities and Katra will see huge development in different sectors and hoped that in coming months the project of Katra Theme Park and rope way at Shiv Khori will get through.
Director Industries & Commerce Jammu, Anoo Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner Reasi. Babila Rakwal, Managing Director Tourism Development Corporation Syed F Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Food Safety Division Jammu Sanjev Gupta, Deputy Director Tourism Publicity & Adventure Naresh Kumar, SDM Katra Angrez Singh, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Madan Magotra besides large number of hoteliers and people from tourism sector from Jammu region were present on the occasion.
Thakur asked the locals also to make use of the new industrial development scheme and make investment in new sectors which may add on to the infrastructure of J&K like ropeways, amusement parks, health and leisure sector etc. In the welcome address President HRANI Surinder Kumar Jaiswal said that this for the first time that HRANI’s conclave has ever happened in Katra and every effort would be made to move united in coordination with the local hotel fraternity in getting the matters concerning tourism industry and hoteliers in particular get resolved at center as well as in J&K and that is the only reason that next convention of FHRAI has been planned at Srinagar.
Wazir requested for ropeway at Shiv Khori, early start of work of theme park at Katra, more investments on public private partnership model, developing of places of tourist interest around Katra Vaishnodevi including the areas on the back side of Vaishnodevi Hills. He further raised the issue registration of hotels and requested that on the pattern of Industries it should be self registration on Udhyam only.
Anoo Malhotra asked the entrepreneurs that in addition to investments in new units the entrepreneurs can take benefit of new industrial developmental scheme by way of making investment in existing units but way of substantial expansion i.e. by way of adding some thing in the existing unit.
Babila Rakwal said that she will make complete round of the district and find out the areas in addition to what we are already having so that more places of pilgrim and tourist interest can be developed around Katra and more than one crore visiting pilgrims be rotated around thereby increasing the stay of Yatries vis-à-vis employment opportunities in the area as well.
Jugal Kishore Sharma emphasized for simplification of the things on the ground so that entrepreneurs may get the benefits of the schemes on ground as well and further asked for developing the areas of pilgrim interest so that those be opened for the tourists. Virender Kesar & Kushal Magotra raised the issue of simplification of registration besides giving of benefits to the existing hotels.
