GMS Upper Kanuyian in dilapidated state, authorities in deep slumber
3/31/2022 11:37:40 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, Mar 31: At a time when the country is busy in implementing the New Education Policy, here at Kanuyian block of Poonch district the Government Middle School (GMS) Upper Kanuyian is completely in a dilapidated state.
The building of the school is in such a rundown condition that it is posing a danger to the students, teaching and non-teaching staff members.
“Plaster on the walls of the school building is falling while the floors are nothing but the stacks of debris and a single black board’s paint is totally fainted thereby making it unusable for the teachers to write on it with a piece of chalk,” said a local resident.
“Though there are three teachers posted in the school but they come on duty on turn basis, only one of them remains present on a day that too without caring for punctuality. While on some days all of them skip their duties due to which the education of our children is getting adversely affected,” he added.
He urged the Chief Education Officer, Poonch and concerned Zonal Education Officer, Kanuyian to visit the school and take stock of the problems of GMS Upper Kanuyian.
A local BJP leader Chishti also castigated the authorities for not improving the infrastructure of the school.
“I am shocked to see the dilapidated condition of the school which has no doors, windows, proper ceiling and floors. Students are forced to sit on the debris or outside only if there is no rain. This is a classic example of misappropriation of government funds. I would request Deputy Commissioner Poonch to order an inquiry into the matter and would also urge him to ask the concerned department to complete the construction of the building at the earliest,” he said.
