| Contractors of PWD (R&B) hold protest agasint government | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 11: To express their resentment against the implementation of Government Order No. 122 of 1992 being implemented after three decades and also the govt decision to renew registration cards online only, the contractors of Jammu province working with PWD (R&B) Department held a protest demonstraion here today. Protesting contractors gathered in large numbers at Lok Nirman Bhawan Rail Head Complex to lodge their protest against the government order.
The resentment expressed by Contractors against the content of SRO 122of 1992 in which apart from affidavits and fee certain certificates are required to be produced along with the cards like Income Tax Clearance certificate and others are issued by the Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and other character certificate issued by the Superintending of Police after CID verification and the registration should be renewed upto 30% of April every year. Since the certificates required will take at least three months is preparation and then uploading online. Its verification and renewal will exhaust half of the financial year.
More Government of Union Territory has ordered to complete the tendering process of works in Capex Budget upto May ending how the contractors will be able to cast their tenders in absence of renewal of their registration . So Contractor shouted slogans against the Principal Secretary Works & Chief Engineer PWD (R&B ) Department Jammu on whose orders the SRO is being implemented after three decades. All the Contractors are aggrieved and want that the Government should withdraw the rule and the registration may be renewed on already in past years. |
