Jammu, Apr 11: A poor casual labourer, whose wife is battling cancer, has been without salary for the past 23 months.
The daily wager while talking to a local news channel said, “My wife has been suffering from cancer since 2017. After she was diagnosed the doctors at Bakshi Nagar hospital told me that she won’t survive for more than 15-days and asked me to fill up a form. They told me that I will get Rs 50,000 as compensation from the government. I tore the form and asked them to refer my wife to a different hospital. I took her to PGI Chandigarh for treatment.”
“After she has fallen sick I have sold my land and the ornaments to provide her with the treatment.
The government owes me Rs one lakh, forty thousand, these are my hard earned wages but no one is listening to me.
Neither is anyone taking pity on me,” the daily wager said.
He said, “My repeated requests have fallen on deaf ears. No one wants to listen to me. My wife is dying but no one seems bothered. It seems our department and the government are deaf.” |
