Power shutdowns become routine in Jammu as JPDCL grapples to fill in demand supply gap

Jammu, Apr 22: The power shutdowns in Jammu region have become a routine amid the sweltering heat. The Jammu Development Power Corporation Limited (JPDCL) is reportedly facing a shortage of 600 MWs and in order to fill in the gap the corporation is resorting to unscheduled power cuts.
The power crisis in Jammu with the advent of summer season has triggered outrage among the residents. According to the sources, JPDCL is yet to take a decision on buying electricity from the Northern Grid. If the additional power is not purchased Jammu region can have 5 to 7-hour power cuts daily.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL, Jammu has informed that the power supply to Patoli Brahmana, Domana, Barnai, Purkhoo, Mishriwala, Baba Talab, Shamachak, Gurha Singhu, Batera, Dabbin, Chorpur, Manyal, Dhramkhu, Tirth Talab, GREF, Gumpul, Sua No.1, Garkhal, Kot Bhalwal, Kalri, Seri, Karwanda, Kalagan, Central Jail, MIET and other adjoining areas shall remain affected on April 23 from 10 am to 2 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to District Rajouri and Poonch shall remain affected on April 23 from 8 am to 12 noon.
Likewise, the power supply to Suhagpur, Nandpur, Kotli Jabowal, Part of Arnia, Allah, BSF, Nandpur, Bishnah, Kotli, Dabbar, Deoli, Sarore and adjoining areas shall remain affected on April 23 from 9 am to 2 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Jagti, Nagrota, PHE, Katal, Batal, Sainik School, Migrant Colony, Bamyal Jagti and adjoining areas shall remain affected on April 23 from 8 am to 12 noon.
Meanwhile, Superintending Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL, O&M Circle, Kathua has informed that the power supply to Bhaddu, Phinter, Seri Mooni, Parnallla, Buggan, Hutter, Koti, Dhar Duggan and Malad Marhoon shall remain affected on April 23 from 8 am to 3 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Billawar, Kishanpur, Tilla, Machedi, Malhar, Lohai, Badnota, Mahanpur, Manu, Raipur, Dambar, Plail, Tandi, Sukrala, Kattal and Najot shall remain affected on April 24 from 8 am to 3 pm.
