No road connectivity to Labli village, people tread paths to reach destinations

EARLY TIMES REPORT

SAMBA, May 3: Though the J&K government claims to have built several roads in rural areas, the reality is that several villages like Labli village in Samba district do not have basic civic amenities.
Even after 75 years of independence, the Labli village is deprived of proper connectivity with major roads of the area.
Lack of road connectivity is still a matter of concern for the locals of Labli village, who are still forced to walk on foot to reach their destinations.
Residents of Labli village, especially school going children and college students could be seen walking on foot on a regular basis to reach their educational institutions in the absence of proper road connectivity.
“Government often claims that we did this, we did that for the welfare of people but in actuality nothing substantial has happened on the ground in our area. We are destined to suffer. Nobody cares to create necessary infrastructure. What will be the fate of a village which has dilapidated road connectivity since the construction work of the road was suspended abruptly,” said a villager.
“Our children studying in Government Higher Secondary School Uttar Behani have to tread 2.5 kilometers to and fro their institution while those who are enrolled in Government Degree College, Purmandal have to walk 8 kilometers each side as we don’t have public transport facility,” he added.
Several locals said that not only the road is in pathetic condition; the village even doesn’t have proper water and electricity supplies while the mobile connectivity in the area is also far from satisfactory as no cellular service provider has erected a tower here.
People urged the district administration to complete the pending work of construction of road in their area so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
