Shiv Sena demands imposition of PSA on bovine smuggling
Seeks Aadhaar tagging mandatory
5/4/2022 10:30:00 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 4: Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit expressed great disappointment against the government for its failure to control the rising bovine smuggling cases in Jammu and Kashmir despite this Union Territory is directly under the control of BJP led Government at the centre.
Addressing media persons here today at Party's central office, Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit chief, Manish Sahni flanked by vice president Natwar Lal said that Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory which is directly under the control of Modi led Central Government has continued to be top in the cases of cow smuggling, despite all efforts, flexible laws are proving to be a factor in smuggling.
Sahni said that cow smuggling gained momentum after the abrogation of Article 370 and the implementation of IPC in Jammu and Kashmir as before 5 October 2019 cow smuggling was in the category of a non-bailable offense under the Ranbir Panel Court, applicable in Jammu and Kashmir, while the smugglers have got a boost due to the soft law and bailable offence on cow smuggling under the IPC.
He said that even Aadhaar tagging of cattle has become a joke. Most often the cattle taken for movement are being seen without tagging, thereby encouraging smuggling.
Sahni said that due to lack of strict law, the Court also issues directions to release the cattle by imposing a minor fine. At the same time, the police administration also immediately starts playing the instructions of the court and releasing the cattle, he added.
Sahni demanded from Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that PSA should be made mandatory on cow smugglers, movement of animals under the cover of weather should be completely banned without tagging. Along with this, there should be a provision of heavy fines and legal action on those who carry more than the prescribed number of cattle.
Sahni warned that if the government does not take strict steps to curb cow smuggling, then Shiv Sena will take to the streets and strongly oppose the existing system and law. On this occasion, Prabhari Doda-Udhampur Ashwani Prabhakar was also present.
