Terror follows no religion
5/13/2022 11:09:06 PM

Terrorists once again have proven that terror has no religion and they can kill anyone. During the past 24 hours, terrorists killed a Kashmiri Pandit, Rahul Bhat, an employee of Revnue Department in central Kashmir’s Chadoora area and a Muslim policeman, Reyaz Ahmad Thoker near his residence in the Gudoora village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Both the victims have left their families behind. Rahul had come to Kashmir after getting a job under the Prime Minister’s package and would not have even dream about meeting such an end.
Rahul’s killing has left Kashmiri Pandit employees working in Kashmir and in Jammu shell shocked. They are asking themselves what’s their fault, why are they being targeted and killed?
On the other hand terrorists are targeting unarmed policemen, panchayat representatives and others. They are doing everything at the behest of their handlers sitting across the Line of Control (LoC). In 1990, gun toting ultras forced Kashmiri Pandits to leave everything behind and run away to save their lives and honour. In 2022, the terrorists are trying to recreate a situation like 1990’s by targeting the KPs, who despite being natives of the Valley are living in makeshift accommodations to earn their livelihood.
Not only Kashmiri Pandits, Muslims in the Valley have condemned Rahul’s killing and are demanding that perpetrators should be dealt with sternly. Times have changed. In the 1990s the local Muslims in Kashmir were unable to speak against the ultras due to the fear of guns but in 2022, they are not shying away from raising their voice against such senseless acts of violence.
On the other hand, terrorists have been killing Muslim policemen working with J&K Police. People in huge numbers are participating in their last rites and are equivocally condemning the killings of policemen, who are usually attacked when they are off duty and are not carrying any weapons.
The ultras are finding it hard to withstand the pressure that’s being exerted on them by the security agencies. They are trying to remain relevant by hitting soft targets like Rahul Bhat and Reyaz Ahmed Thoker. They have only one aim i.e. to appease their bosses. For them human lives don’t matter. The Kashmiriyat and composite culture is getting murdered everyday.
