Prez, VP, others greet people of Sikkim on Statehood Day

NEW DELHI, May 16: President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Ministers and other leaders on Monday greeted people of Sikkim on the occasion of their Statehood Day. Extending his warm wishes, the President in a tweet wrote, " Sikkim has set an example before rest of the country in organic farming and adopting the path of sustainable development. My best wishes to all the residents of Sikkim for continued growth and prosperity." Recalling his visit to the North Eastern state, the VP said he was captivated by the enchanting natural beauty, vibrant culture and hospitable people of Sikkim. "Sikkim's endeavours in organic farming are truly laudable. My best wishes for the prosperity of the state," Naidu said in a message. Lok Sabha Speaker Birla in a tweet wrote, "Greetings to my brothers and sisters from Sikkim on their Statehood Day. Sikkim's vibrant culture, lively people and diverse flora and fauna are mesmerizing. I pray for happiness & progress of people." Extending his greetings, Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a tweet wrote, "Greetings to our hardworking sisters and brothers of Sikkim on their statehood day."
He said Sikkim is known for its great culture and immense natural beauty and pray for its progress in the years to come.
"Best wishes on the special occasion of Sikkim Foundation Day. Pristine, magnificent and resplendent with vivid culture and warm people, the Organic State of India is growing with rapid pace.
May Sikkim continue to grow and prosper," Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted.
On the occasion, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda in a tweet wrote, "Many congratulations and best wishes to all the people of Sikkim on the occasion of its Statehood Day. Sikkim is adorned with unmatched natural beauty, and is home to hard-working, warm people. I pray that the state continues to flourish and prosper everyday."
