Samba police foil three bovine smuggling bids; smuggler arrested, 17 animals rescued

JAMMU, May 16: District Police Samba today successfully foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 17 bovines and arrested a bovine smuggler in three separate incidents acrsoss district Samba.
Acting on an information received from reliable sources regarding illegal transportation of bovines, a Police Party of PP Supwal during vehicle checking at Naka NHW Supwal, Samba signalled to stop a truck bearing Regd No. JK03H-6797 to which driver did not respond and crossed the Naka point.
On this, police naka party chased the vehicle but before the Police intercepted the vehicle, the driver managed to get escaped from the spot taking advantage of the darkness and leaving vehicle few metres away from Naka point.
During checking of the said vehicle, 09 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 121/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
A Police party of PS Vijaypur acting on an information received from reliable source laid a surprise naka at NHW Swankha Morh and rescued 05 bovines which were being transported in a Mahindra Bolero Pick-up with Registration No. JK08E-3348.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 70/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
Similarly in third incident, a police party of PP Rajpura rescued 03 bovines at Naka Rajpura, Ghagwal which were being transported in a Mahindra vehicle with Regd. No. JK08-5041. The accused driver namely Rohit Chouhan S/o Anchal Singh R/o Haria Chak, Hiranagar, Kathua has been arrested. In this regard, a case FIR No. 74/2022 U/S 188 IPC Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
All the bovines mentioned in above incidents were rescued and shifted to safer place.The vehicles used for transporting the bovines were also seized.
