DC Kathua reviews Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra arrangements

KATHUA, June 10: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rahul Pandey today convened a meeting to review the arrangements being put in place for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
DC State Taxes, ASP, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Principal GMC Kathua, CPO, DPO ICDS, Registrar (Yatra Officer) RTO besides other officers attended the meeting.
The DC asked the concerned departments to nominate Nodal Officers of their respective departments for better monitoring and coordination of tasks assigned for facilitation of yatris.
The DC impressed upon the stakeholder departments to submit action plans related to security, safe drinking water, power supply, medical facilities, sanitation, provision of toilets, sanitation facilities, lodging and langer facilities, traffic and security arrangements etc. He directed the departments to work in coordination for finalizing the necessary arrangements well before the commencement of the yatra.
The DC also enjoined upon the concerned officers to keep the contingency plan ready to deal with any eventuality. He also called for making duty charts of the staff to be deployed and stressed on training and sensitization of staff to facilitate the yatris.
While directing officers of NHAI, the DC called for ensuring installation of digital screen, hoardings and signages on Yatra route across the district. Besides, directions were also issued to complete the task of proper pavement markings and necessary repairs at identified locations on National Highway.
The DC also directed DPO ICDS to ensure exhibition of local artifacts and products of SHGs at identified locations through Handicraft, Handlooms and NRLM departments. It was given out in the meeting that dedicated cultural stalls will be installed at identified Yatra points for the entertainment of the Yatris.
The DC stressed upon the active participation and role of volunteers viz NYC, NYK, NCC, NSS and Civil Defence organisations so as to ensure hassle free experience of the yatris.
The meeting also discussed in length facilities in lodgement centres, illumination of dark spots, RFID tagging of vehicles, establishment of SRTC counter, disaster plan, check on quality of food and eatables, proper sanitation on yatra route and enforcement of anti-polythene measures etc.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner visited lodgement centres established for Amarnath yatris across the district and took stock of facilities being put in place for smooth stay of yatris.
While reviewing the arrangements, the DC directed executing agencies to complete the necessary repair and renovation works well in time.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner along with other officers entrusted with the task of Yatra arrangements visited Lakhanpur where a multi-facility reception centre is being established for forthcoming yatra.
