PG Department of GDC Kathua conducts field study tour

JAMMU, June 10: PG Department of Geography Govt. Degree College Kathua conducted a field study tour of Semester IV students. During the15 days long Field Study tour students witnessed various geographical features, coastal, marine, Historical, Cultural and social aspects of different states of the country. Principal of the college Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia appreciated the efforts of Department of Geography for arranging a highly informative field study tour for the students of PG Geography. He said that such tours are the eye openers for the students and act as personality enhancers. Senior faculty members Prof. Raj Kiran, Prof. Jasvinder Singh and Prof. Rakesh Singh applauded HOD and faculty members of Geography Department for successful completion of field study tour. The field study tour started from Kathua and at Delhi students visited different places like Humayan Tomb, Majnu ka tilla, Yamauna River, Waste to Wonder park, India Gate, Red Fort, Indra Gandhi Memorial and Raj Ghat. Course Incharge Dr. Amrik Singh told that the Field study tour was of much Geographical Relevance and helped the students for completion of their field tour reports which was part of their curriculum. He also told that in Kochi students made empirical observation of Marine Drive, Chinese Fishing Net, Kochi Port and also visited spices market as well as spices Garden. He told that students also visited Asia's Second Largest shopping Mall in Kochi. After Kochi students visited Covlam Beach and Poovarm Backwater Lake endowed with Mangroove Forests and then reached Kanayakumari. In Kanayakumari students visited Vivekanand Rock Memorial Temple, Kanayakumari Fort, Sangam of three seas and also witnessed Famous Sunrise and sunset of Kanayakumari. Then students visited Rameshwaram there they witnessed Ram Setu, Rameshwaram Temple and APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial.
