First Alumni Meet of SKUAST-Jammu Organised

JAMMU, June 29: 1st Alumni Meet of SKUAST-Jammu was organized during the 7th Convocation of SKUAST-Jammu where alumni of SKUAST-Jammu participated in large numbers. Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Sharma addressed the Alumni and explained the relevance of an Alumni meeting. He also shared his experiences along with some great pieces of advice. Vice Chancellor appreciates the organizers for successful organization of alumni meet and ensured his full support to strengthen the alumni association. He further advised all the alumni to unite and develop linkage that will also help for the growth of the University. The event started with a video presentation where alumni share their journey after passing out from SKUAST-Jammu. Dr. Prashant Bakshi and Dr. Anil Bhat both alumni of SKUAST-Jammu and now working as Teaching Faculty in the SKUAST-Jammu also shared their journey. Alumni Meet session was also conducted for effective interaction with the pass-out students. The meeting began at 5:30 PM as Alumni were slowly completing the registration process and joining in. Dr. R. K. Salgotra, Coordinator, School of Biotechnoloigy gave a presentation about SKUAST-Jammu at a glance whereas Dr. Vivak M Arya, Deputy Coordinator of the event gave detailed presentation about aims, objectives and functioning of the SKUAST-J alumni association. Telephone director of the alumni was also released during the meet and all the alumni were given Souvenir at the end.
Earlier, Dr. Parshant Bakshi, Coordinator of the meet welcomed Chief Guest, special guests and all the alumni and also conducted the proceedings of the programme. Dr. Bakshi took the initiative by donating Rs. 21000 for its strengthening and urged all the alumni for voluntary donations in favour of association. He introduced all the special guest viz., Dr. Sarvjeet Soodan, Dr. Jitender Singh, Dr. Ranjeet Singh and Dr. V. S. Verma along with their achievements to the audience. Dr. Sarvjeet Soodan, IFS, an alumni of SKUAST-Jammu delivered an inspirational and motivational talk who is currently working as Deputy Chief of Protocol, PMO, Ministry of External Affairs, India. Prof. V. S. Verma (Retd.) President of the association also spoke on the occasion and thanked Vixce Chancellor for whole hearted support. The whole event was organized under the patronage of Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and Convenership of Dr. S. E. H. Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences. Dr. Sumati Sharma, Additional Director, DRDO, statutory officers of the university, head of the divisions and Dr. S. A. Khandi, Deputy Coordinator were also present during the meet. At the end vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Brijeshwar Bhau, Deputy Coordinator of the event. The alumni left at a Happy note with a commitment to interact & engage at more such occasions.
