J&K elections: BJP to devise strategy in its national executive committee meet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 1: BJP will devise a strategy for conducting assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in its two-day national executive committee meeting to be held on July 2 and 3 at Hyderabad. Highly placed sources said that J&K BJP leaders have been asked by the high command to prepare a detailed report about the planning of the party to fight the assembly elections. “Final decision regarding the time and schedule of the assembly elections in J&K will be taken only after the high command seek a report from the J&K unit”, sources said and added that some BJP leaders of J&K will present the report before the national executive committee meeting. Delegates have begun arriving in Hyderabad for the BJP National Executive meeting that is scheduled to be held on July 2- 3 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre. BJP national president JP Nadda arrived in the Telangana capital on Friday. Meetings of the national general secretaries and national office bearers followed by the national executive meeting will be held on July 2 and a public meeting will be held at the Parade Ground on July 3 with the address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pertinent to mention here that after the delimitation commission submitted its final draft report, the Election Commission of India has already initiated some steps to conduct assembly elections in J&K. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of J&K to conduct a special summary revision of electoral rolls. The ECI has asked the J&K government to complete the process by October 31, 2022, with the final publication of electoral rolls. In a letter to the CEO of J&K, written by Pawan Diwan, Under Secretary, a copy of which has with the Early Times, the ECI asked the J&K government to due to various administrative reasons, this annual revision of electoral roll could not be undertaken in Jammu and Kashmir after 2019. |
