Early Times Report

POONCH, July 25: In a high voltage drama, a heated argument was witnessed between District Development Council (DDC) members and Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Poonch during meeting over absence of senior officials of all departments which are under the ambit of Panchayats.
Moreover, there was another strong resentment among the DDC members and DDC Chairperson which came out in the meeting about various development projects which were not considered by the concerned departments. The argument had gone to such extent that the meeting could not be completed with the DDC members boycotting the meeting in protest of absence of senior officials.
“We have to come from Mendhar to attend meeting yet no positive response is given to us on our issues. We have been allotted funds of Rs 71 lakhs for 14 panchayats which is a meagre amount despite the fact that 29 departments have been put under Panchayat ambit but shockingly hardly officers of four departments were present that too GRS, Technical Assistants only, which shows the non-seriousness of the administration as well as the concerned departments,” alleged a DDC member from Mendhar.
He alleged that several works which were discussed in previous meetings were not considered. “They waste our times whenever we try to raise our issues by giving lame excuses,” he alleged. The video in this matter has also been uploaded in Early Times social media platform.
Another DDC member Imran Zafar alleged that there is huge disparity in allotment of works of roads. “It has been seen that in a particular Panchayat 10 roads projects are allotted while in other especially in block Mankote no road has been allotted due to which we have face embarrassment of the local people,” he alleged further adding that several areas are being ignored due to negligence of the administration.
He demanded that all departments which have been covered under panchayats should discuss their annual plans with the DDC Members so that they might know about it. Meanwhile ADDC Poonch accused the DDC members of manhandling and said that that one of the DDC Members threw microphone on him due to which they also came out of the meeting.
