IGNOU opens MSDE Extension Centres for pre-admission counselling for prospective students

JAMMU, Aug 26: The Union Ministry of Education has entrusted the responsibility of orienting the higher education teachers with regard to implementation of National Education Policy 2020 to the Indira Gandhi National Open University. Teachers being the key players, about 15 lakh teachers of the Universities and Colleges across the country need to be oriented on various recommendations of the National Education Policy. IGNOU has developed a nation-wide 36-hour (6 days) Professional Development Programme (NEP-PDP) which is equivalent to UGC-HRDC short term PDP and can be completed in a maximum of nine days. For NEP-PDP, registration shall take place on the SAMARTH online platform through the link https://ignou-nep-pdp.samarth.ac.in/ and the programme delivery shall take place on the SWAYAM platform by the IGNOU Headquarters. The registration for the said programme is open and teachers of higher education can register for any suitable batch by uploading Institution I/Card or letter from the Head of Institution. Any teacher of any Higher Education Institute in India can register and participate in the Professional Development Programme on National Education Policy-2020.
The certification on successful completion of the programme shall also be equally useful for purposes of API, CAS and any other career advancement requirements specified by UGC.
The faculty, after going through this online professional development training programme, shall be well-equipped with knowledge about various dimensions of NEP-2020. They will be able to describe the foundational principles of NEP-2020, structural arrangements, GER, access, equity, inclusion, 21st century learning in higher education and plan for their further growth and development.
"Every teacher associated with any of the Higher Education Institutions in the region must register himself/herself for this wonderful programme and have the honour of being the building block in transforming the education system", said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director In charge, Regional Centre Jammu.
As a part of MoU between Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, for linking vocational education and training to higher education for trainees attached to National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI), ITIs, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) and Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSS) for their upward mobility, IGNOU has opened Extension Centres for the prospective students.
Four Extension Centres have so far been established under the Regional Centre Jammu at Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras in Udhampur, Reasi, Poonch and Kathua districts in collaboration with G.K. Educational Trust.
