Srinagar, Aug 26: A day after three infiltrators were killed in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, the army said the suspected Pakistanis were well prepared for infiltration and their built showed they had undergone military training.
Col Raghavendra, whose unit carried out the counter infiltration operation at Kamalkote in Uri said a search operation was still on.
Right now mine clearing measures are being undertaken to ensure proper search,? he told the media in Baramulla.
Giving details, he said the operation was carried out in extremely challenging terrain and the weather was extremely foggy with heavy rain. ?Besides the entire area is mined.”
He said the movement of the militants was ascertained by using the latest aerial and ground based sensors and surveillance equipment.
At around 8:45 am ( on Thursday), the terrorists came into the killing ground... In the brief exchange of 15 minutes, three Pakistani terrorists were neutralized,? Col Raghavendra said.
He said two AK series weapons and one Chinese M-16 weapon and ammunition and other stores were recovered.
These terrorists were well treated and prepared for infiltration and also their built indicates they had undergone formal military training,? he said, adding all the latest and the new generation surveillance equipment and weapons were put to optimal use during the operation.
The General officer Commanding of Baramulla based 19 Infantry Division, Major General Ajay Chandpuri, said the slain terrorists were not in possession of any documents.
“It is our assessment that before pushing these terrorists for infiltration, their IDs were taken away from them. So, we are not aware of the exact identities of these people,” he said.
