Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 24: General Category People's Front, Jammu Kashmir (GCPF-JK) organized its meeting today under the Chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Front and paid rich tributes to the young martyrs (students) of Anti-Mandal Agitation of 1990 which was against the implementation of Mandal Commission report by the government of India. Glowing tributes paid to martyrs in a simple but impressive function held here. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Front appreciated the role of the activists of the Front for bringing the historical Agitation of 1990 once again into limelight by celebrating 24th Sept as "Anti Discrimination Day". This day is being celebrated for the last 15 years by Anti-Mandal and Pro-equality organizations. Sanson said that best tributes which could be paid to young martyrs of Anti-Mandal Agitation would be for people to work with missionary zeal for ensuring equality, justice, liberty and non-discrimination to all irrespective their caste, class and religion, strengthening secular traditions and amenity, bonds of communal harmony and brother hood. We salute courage, determination and supreme sacrifices of young martyrs who laid down their lives against, inequality, injustice and discrimination. He exhorted young activists to be ready for sacrifices that of Anti Mandal Agitation for getting back the rights, snatched by divisive vote bank policies of political parties. None of the political parties opposed caste and class based discriminatory Mandal Commission Report because of fear of losing Vote Bank. Som Nath Sharma, Gen. Secretary described the martyrs the real epitome of courage, justice and equality. The young martyrs exhibited courage, determination and commitment to awake the nation against caste based discrimination, communalism and divide and rule policy of the Government. It is our duty to carry on their mission. V.K. Sahrma, Vice President, while paying tributes to the Martyrs alleged that government policies are being framed keeping an eye on Vote Bank not the nation. He said that martyrs opposed the caste and class based reservation. Sharma blamed Modi government for promoting casteism and communalism through its divisive reservation policies ignoring the poor and deserving people of so called upper castes. Jagdish Dogra, Ex-president Sanatan Dharam Sabha Jammu condemned divisive laws and policies including Sec. 5/51. Atrocity Act as it violated the principles of equality and justice. He stressed for 'equal rights and equal laws for all' and demanded legal provision of 'Equality Act' to end discrimination and politics of caste; class and religion. Deepak Khajuria, Ravi Sawhney, Bhushan Pargal Kewal Sharma and Gopal Dass Verma, Dr. Bansi Lal and Surinder Kumar also paid tributes to the martyrs and appealed to General Category People to get united to end the violation of Indian Constitution and Human Rights. They demanded complete and full fundamental rights to all.
