| Six corporators front-runners for Mayor post | | |

Jammu, Sept 24: After asking the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to submit their papers, BJP leadership is trying to evolve consensus on the name of the new Mayor of the city. Highly placed sources said the party leadership of BJP has decided to take all corporators on the board before taking any final decision on the name of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
Sources said that the party has decided to announce the names of the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor just after the resignations of Chander Mohan Gupta and Purnima Sharma but the announcement was withheld due to a lack of consensus.
Highly placed sources in the BJP said that six corporators are frontrunners for the post of Mayor of the JMC. Corporator of ward number 12 Parmodh Kapahi, ward No 16 corporate Rajinder Sharma, ward number corporator 25 Arun Khanna, ward number 41 Sanjay Baru, ward number 54 Neeraj Puri and ward number Baldev Singh Billawaria are the frontrunners for Mayor post.
Sources said that name of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be finalized on late Saturday evening and all corporators will be conveyed the same on Sunday morning. |
