Director Animal Husbandry calls for meeting physical, financial targets in time

JAMMU, Sept 24: Director, Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Shubhra Sharma (JKAS) today chaired a review meeting of all districts at Conference hall of Directorate of Animal Husbandry Talab Tillo, Jammu.
In the marathon meeting Director had a detailed review of different developmental initiatives in poultry and dairy sectors. While reviewing the poultry sector performance vis a vis revenue realization, it was impressed upon the district officers to take steps to strengthen the Hatcheries in different districts inorder to give impetus to breed improvement as well as entrepreneurship development in poultry sector. It was further directed that Detailed Project Reports in this regard be submitted within one week.
While reviewing the physical infrastructure of the departmental offices in Jammu division, proposals were sought from concerned officers regarding necessary repairs and renovations wherever required for further apprising the higher authorities accordingly.
During the course of the meeting the chair was informed about Liquid Nitrogen plant being restored in district Rajouri to augment the supply of Liquid Nitrogen which is critical to the success of Artificial Insemination programmes in the region. In this regard the chair directed Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Rajouri to ensure timely completion as well as functioning of the plant. Further CAHO Udhampur and CAHO Doda were also directed to initiate efforts for making such plants functional within their districts also in a time bound manner.
While taking stock of the Lumpy Skin disease situation in the Jammu division, Director exhorted upon all the officers to gear up the field vaccinations for this disease inorder to control the spread of the disease to unaffected areas. Further the chair directed all the district officers to closely monitor the working of Rapid Response Teams constituted to tackle the spread of the disease.
During the course of meeting a threadbare discussion was held on various important schemes and the concerned officers apprised the chair about the progress made in the implementation of various schemes viz. Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme, National Animal Disease Control Programme, National Livestock Mission, Integrated Poultry Development Programme and Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund.
Director impressed upon all the officers to expedite the works undertaken under each scheme so that these are completed well in time.
