In order to discourage the culture of anonymous complaints, the government has issued the instructions to ensure that no false allegations are leveled against the government servants.
After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory the anti-graft bodies in the Himalayan region have been flooded with anonymous complaints.
The government has issued clear instructions for proper lodging and disposal of the complaints against the public servants. The complaints can be lodged with appropriate authority by addressing a written communication either directly or through electronic mode or on the portal available for this purpose. Anonymous and pseudonymous complaints should not be taken cognizance of. Neither can the complaints be lodged in matters that are sub-judice.
After the scrapping of Article 370 in 2019, the anti-graft agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have been given more powers to act against the corrupt officials and officers. The complaints that are being lodged by a common man are taken cognizance of and acted upon but in the process many fake complaints have started pouring in.
The government’s decision to end anonymous compliant culture has come as a respite for the government servants as a few people without disclosing their identities had started leveling frivolous allegations to settle their personal scores.
The Anti Corruption Bureau has been provided with more teeth and its taking prompt action against anyone found involved in corruption. The government’s decision to stop entertaining anonymous complaints will save the time of ant-graft agencies and will also ensure that only genuine complainants come forward.
During the past three years many steps have been taken by the government to make the employees accountable and make them understand that they are sitting on their chairs to help the people. A clear message has been sent that no nonsense will be tolerated and the ones who don’t fall in the line will have to call it a day. Since 2019, the ACB has filed a number of challans against the government employees who have been found involved in the corrupt practices. Many have been punished and even shown the exit door for violating the rules and overstepping their briefs.
The government has driven home a point that the deadwood won’t be tolerated and the system can only absolve the performers. The steps taken to curb corruption have been commendable and the decision to end the culture of anonymous complaints will go a long way in making the jobs of the anti-graft agencies easy.
